Origin AFL Green Promotion

Origin Energy

In a ground-breaking initiative, the AFL and several clubs partnered with Origin in 2006 to help us be the first sporting league in the world to report zero net greenhouse gas emissions.

Collectively, the ten participating clubs and the AFL have offset approximately 63,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.

By the end of 2009, Origin expects that its AFL Green program will offset a total of approximately 90,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions generated from AFL House, the NAB Cup, Toyota Premiership Season and Finals Series matches.

Origin will offset these greenhouse gas emissions by undertaking emission reduction activities, or purchasing green credits from a third party, to match the amount of emissions identified.

Join the team and kick a winning goal for our environment.

You don’t have to be a footy member to reduce your impact on our environment and help your favourite club go green.

By going Green for Footy, you could save money on your energy bills while supporting the AFL and our environment!

Score a complimentaryˆ in-home assessment when you Go Green for Footy and you could save up to $100 on your energy bills* each year by making your home more energy efficient.

Our energy experts will come to your home and supply and install:

  • three star rated electric hot water saving showerheads, replacing those with two star ratings or less, as well as
  • energy efficient energy globes, replacing all incandescent light globes (excluding down lights)

And they’ll do it all on the spot, when they visit your home, at a time that suits you – 7am - 7pm, Monday to Saturday.

Plus we’ll help the AFL go green too!

Green Footy

By choosing a Green for Footy Energy Plan, we’ll contribute $27.50 (inc. GST) to help offset the greenhouse gas emissions of the AFL through our Origin Carbon Reduction Scheme™. Now that’s good for football, and great for our environment.

Best of all, you’ll receive a full size Sherrin® footy exclusive to the Green for Footy energy plan.

As Australia’s number one green energy provider, and Ethical Investor’s Australian ‘Sustainable Company of the Year 2007’, Origin is always looking for innovative ways to work towards a more sustainable future.
