NAB Club Recognition Award Eligibility Rules

  1. The NAB Club Recognition Award ("Award") is awarded by National Australia Bank ("NAB").
  2. Subject to these rules, and in NAB's discretion, it is intended that an Award will be made to the nominated junior football club of each AFL player nominated for the NAB AFL Rising Star Medal (as judged by the AFL), if it is the first time they have been nominated for the award. Each of these players will be referred to as a "Qualifying Player".
  3. A football club is eligible to be nominated by the Qualifying Player as the recipient club where it:
    1. in the reasonable opinion of NAB (in consultation with the AFL), has a "Genuine Relationship" with a Qualifying Player;
    2. is not a "State league" (ie, VFL, SANFL, WAFL, etc) club;
    3. is not a team of or associated with any particular school; and
    4. has not received an Award from NAB in the same AFL season.
  4. Without limiting NAB's discretion, a club will be considered to have a "Genuine Relationship" with a Qualifying Player if:
    1. the Qualifying Player had been a registered player with the club for at least three years and the club can provide documentary substantiation of such registration (if required); or
    2. the Qualifying Player had been a registered player with the club for less than three years but had not been a registered player with any other club during the previous three years.
  5. For the avoidance of doubt:
    1. a Qualifying Player may not nominate a football club to receive the Award that does not have a "Genuine Relationship" with the Qualifying Player, as required under paragraph 4 of these Eligibility Rules;
    2. if the Qualifying Player could potentially nominate more than one football club in which he had a "Genuine Relationship", then the Qualifying Player may choose one football club only to receive the Award. If the Qualifying Player is unable to make this decision, NAB in consultation with the Qualifying Player will have the ultimate discretion to make this decision taking into account all of the circumstances; and
    3. neither the AFL or NAB are required to provide a football club that has a Genuine Relationship with the Qualifying Player with the Award or such other financial or practical resources if either the Qualifying Player elects to nominate an alternate football club that has a Genuine Relationship with him or NAB, pursuant to paragraph 5(c) of the Eligibility Rules decides to grant the Award to an alternate football club.
