Carbon pollution reduction programs


Origin AFL Green

Origin is providing 100% GreenPower for the 2010 Toyota AFL Grand Final at the MCG.


The AFL House Green Team

The Green Team works to engage AFL staff with reducing energy and paper consumption, promoting recycling and use of sustainable modes of transport to work.


Supporting community football clubs


Synthetic turf project

As a result of the ongoing climate change challenge, the AFL and Cricket Australia have released the criteria for artificial turf to be developed, suitable for use on drought affected community grounds.


Green Clubs

Through a partnership with the Department of Climate Change, the AFL has developed a training module to educate community football clubs to reduce their impact on the environment, while ensuring the sustainability of their grounds.

Green Game 2010

Carlton FC hosted a Green Game against Melbourne FC on World Environment Day; Round 11, Saturday June 5, at the MCG.


Green Round 2009

During Round 20 in 2009 the AFL, AFL Clubs, stadia and commercial partners encouraged fans to “make green their second team”, by promoting use of public transport and car pool to the game, recycling of waste at the stadium and reminding people to turn off unnecessary power before they left home.


Stadia redevelopment


Gold Coast Stadium’s new roof

In March this year the redevelopment of Gold Coast Stadium received its first piece of above-ground construction, when a steel structure was placed in the Western Stand.
