2008 AFL Army Award

Courage, Initiative and Teamwork. These are the Army's core values and what defines a great sports icon.

To celebrate these qualities, the Army is sponsoring the 2008 AFL Army Award. Three exceptional plays are selected each week by our expert team of AFL analysts and posted on this site every Tuesday after the weekend's games for you to vote for your favorite play. The player who you think best represents these skills in a single section of play during the home and away season will win.

At the end of the season there will be 22 different nominated players; six will be selected as finalists with an overall winner announced at the All Australian Awards in September. Last year's winner was Essendon's Alwyn Davey.

Who could be a better ambassador for this award than former Kangaroos great Glen Archer who has won the Robert Rose Award for Most Courageous Player six times in nine years. This is more than any other player!

By voting you have the chance to win amazing prizes such as an Army experience for you and two mates, including a ride in an Army tank. We'll also give away weekly prizes, including signed gurnseys and football prize packs.
