Ranking: 9
IC08 Placing: 9

With domestic tests against two of the top London teams as well as home-and-away matches against the Irish Warriors, the Bulldogs have prepared well heading into IC11.

The late stages of preparation have been hampered by several injuries, but with some experienced players, exciting youngsters and a group of players currently based in Australia, the squad has a good mix to improve our result from previous tournaments.

Message from British High Commissioner

Paul MaddenI am delighted to see a Great Britain team competing in the 2011 International AFL Cup.

AFL is a great game which I have begun to follow enthusiastically since moving to Australia. It’s a fantastic spectator sport with its pace, fast flowing movement and high scores.

This is a great year for the friendly rivalry between our two sports mad nations, with the Ashes and the Rugby World Cup. And just under a year away is the magnificent prospect of the London Olympics, where I’m sure we’re going to see British and Australian teams doing well in the medals table. So it’s good to see AFL staging an international tournament too.

I know there will be plenty of Brits to cheer their team on at their matches in Sydney and Melbourne. I’m sure it will be a great competition.

Paul Madden
British High Commissioner

Players to Watch

Martyn Hinchey
A basketball convert who took the Team Europe jumper at last year’s European Championships, Martyn has a great leap and safe hands.

Tom Mercer
A recent addition to the squad, Tom’s lightning pace and agility make him a nightmare to mark and his rugby background has helped him migrate into footy very quickly.
