The Elks are planning on a top five finish this year, thanks to the more experienced and mature squad coming over for this campaign. The boys have been preparing since January 2010 and are really looking forward to showing the football world they are not walkovers.
The squad is a well balanced group who will showcase their speed, skill and determinaton. Having the versality of all players being able to play any positon is a key to their game in this tournament. Head Coach: Daniel McClaer, Sweden Elks / South Malmö Bloods

I would like to extend my best wishes to the Swedish team participating in the 2011 AFL International Cup and to wish them success in this tournament.
The Swedish National team - The Swedish Elks - is an experienced team and they will make their second appearance in the International Cup after a successful debut at the International Cup in 2008.
The Elks come well prepared and will give their best and I am sure they will be well supported by the large Swedish communities in Sydney and Melbourne.
If Australia wants to promote this kind of football in Sweden, you should of course give the Swedish team a nice advantage. A Swedish success will certainly increase the interest in Sweden for this sport!
Heja Sverige!

Since 2005, the biggest improvements to the team has been the players' attitude and passion and their knowledge and understanding of the game.
One player who has risen to the top quite quickly is Rickard Barrefelt. He has developed immensely since the first training camp in February 2010, to being part of the well respected leadership group of the Elks.
His courageous attack on the ball and being able to make correct decisions under pressure has been outstanding in his build up to the International Cup.
