Ranking: 12
IC08 Placing: Did not compete

With the majority of the squad coming from Tonga's junior development programs, the team has a lot of young players. However, that doesn't mean they lack for experience: Tonga were the winners of the 2009 U16 AFL Oceania Cup and runners up in 2010.

Coach: Jim Lucy
Assistant Coaches: Edward McCowan and Mike Gawn

Players to Watch

Penisimani Mahina
Captained Tonga to the inaugural 2009 U16 Oceania Cup win and was named player of the tournament. From there he played in the inaugural South Pacific Nations team that played in the 2010 National U16 Championships. He had a great tournament holding down the CHB position and was recently awarded an International Scholarship to Greater Western Sydney. He is a schoolboy Tongan athletics champion.

Setefano Nau
Setefano is new to the game but is a natural athlete. He has picked up the basics quickly and has become a leader in the group both on and off the field. We expect his performances at IC11 will surprise many people.

Simote Taunga
He played in the inaugural 2009 U16 Oceania Cup win and was named in the inaugural South Pacific Nations team in 2010 that played in the National U16 Championships. He is a schoolboy Tongan athletics champion.
