IT LOOMED as the deal which would
officially be sealed in the final half an hour before the 2pm Friday trade
deadline, but Carlton
enters the last day of the exchange period having landed its man β Chris Judd.
With Judd now a Blue and young key forward
Josh Kennedy at West Coast, the final day of trade dealing is likely to see at
least another 10 deals officially clinched.
At 10am, no further deals have officially
been added.
Already Travis Johnstone has become a Lion,
Martin Mattner has become a Swan, Cameron Wood a Magpie and John Meesen a
Demon.
Ben Hudson (Adelaide)
and Tim Callan (Geelong)
are set to officially become Bulldogs, as the battle to secure the likes of
Jared Brennan, Kepler Bradley and Brad Moran should intensify.
Overnight, Richmond claimed Jordan McMahon (Western
Bulldogs) and Mitch Morton (West Coast) and they will officially be locked in
today.
Geelong premiership ruckman Steven King also looks set to switch clubs β
after less than two weeks since playing in the club's first flag since 1963 β
with St Kilda touted as his likely destination.
Sydney premiership duo Adam Schneider and Sean Dempster are also set to
head to Moorabbin.
Richmond youngsters Danny Meyer and Jay Schulz could be headed to Hawthorn
and Port Adelaide respectively.
Last year, just nine players switched AFL
clubs via the trade period, but expect at least double that number by the end
of today.
Please
note, no trades are official prior to paperwork being accepted by the AFL and
formally recognised after 2pm, Friday October 12, 2007.
