Big grabs and sausage rolls

TWO OLD stagers and a newcomer are nominated for this weeks' 2007 Toyota AFL Goal of the Year.

The Kangaroos' Brent Harvey is named for his running goal against Carlton at Carrara, while Blues' captain Lance Whitnall is nominated for his snap after gathering the ball in the forward pocket. Shaun Higgins from the Western Bulldogs is the third nominee for his two-bounce running goal from 50m.

Two Essendon youngsters are nominated for the round seven Toyota AFL Mark of the Year.

Brent Stanton is in the running for his hanger over Luke Power, while teammate Angus Monfries is nominated for his mark over Michael Rischitelli. Aaron Edwards of the Kangaroos rounds out the nominees for his spectacular leap over Bret Thornton.

The round seven winners were St Kilda's Nick Riewoldt (mark) and the Western Bulldogs' Nathan Eagleton (goal).

AFL fans voted for Riewoldt and Eagleton after viewing the three weekly nominations at afl.com.au/markgoal.

Both weekly winners' nominated grassroots football clubs are in the running to win $5000 courtesy of Toyota.

In 2007, the winners of the Toyota AFL Mark and Goal of the Year awards will each receive $5000 for their grassroots Club, also presented by Toyota; the use of a Toyota Kluger CV for 12 months; a crystal replica of the official, perpetual Toyota AFL Mark of the Year and Toyota AFL Goal of the Year trophies, presented by the AFL and Toyota, and the Alex Jesaulenko Medal (mark) and Phil Manassa Medal (goal), presented by Toyota.

At the end of the Toyota AFL Premiership season, the AFL All-Australian Selection Committee will decide the overall winner from the 22 weekly winners.

The awards will be the presented during 2007 Toyota AFL Grand Final week.
