AFL Masters, initially known as 'Superules' is the game of Australian football for players over 35 years of age right up to over fifty and sixty years of age .
The game was first started in country Victoria in 1981, now has a national standardised set of modified rules designed to reduce the risks of injury for participating players. Players can enjoy the game and camaraderie they have loved and still get to work on Monday.
Currently the game is played in every State/Territory of Australia with over 170 local clubs and 5500 registered players competing in local domestic competitions at varying age levels from over 35 to over 55 years.
The season culminates with the National Carnival usually held in the week after the AFL Grand Final and rotated among some of Australia’s most popular resort destinations, where over 800 players and their families enjoy a week of footy and a leisurely holiday.
AFL Masters is recognised by the AFL as the official body to co-ordinate and deliver AFL football to masters players around Australia.
