The Chas Brownlow Trophy – better known as the Brownlow Medal (and informally as “Charlie”) was first awarded by the Victorian Football League in 1924. It was created and named in honour of Charles Brownlow, the Geelong footballer, long-time Geelong club secretary, and VFL president.
