West Coast Eagles WA Cheer Squad
The official West Coast Eagles Cheer Squad is made up of vocal, passionate and committed members who will continue to show their support and dedication in 2010. You may notice them seated behind the goals at the base of the three-tier stand in their yellow t-shirts, or holding the banners for our team to run though.

Who makes the banner?
Our banner makers are responsible for producing the creative banners the team runs through before each game. A dedicated group of our loyal Cheersquad members devote hours of their time before each match to assemble the banner.

How long does it take to make a banner?
It can take upwards of eight hours to make a banner. The plastic is laid flat and then all the letters have to be stuck to the banner. The banner is then taped to big metal poles that help us hold it up before each round. Have a look next time you’re at the game!

What is the banner made out of?
The banners are made from a special plastic, like a plastic tablecloth. The letters are cut out of big stencils made from the same plastic. There are two sizes of letters depending on what else is going to be on the banner, like milestones. One of our devoted cheers quad members, Ryan, organises the big player’s faces that you see on a banner when they reach a milestone. You would be amazed at the amount of tape that is used for each banner.
Special provisions also have to be made if it going to be a windy day, so that our banner and our cheer squad members don’t blow away.

Who picks what is written on the banner?
Our loyal cheer squad members use the banner for special inspirational messages for our players and supporters. They work alongside the club if there is something happening surrounding a match day. Each special message is approved by the club and then put up on the website for the Winning Words competition. Unfortunately no personal messages can be added to the banners.

How would I get a banner made for a match?
On occasion the cheer squad assists local clubs with making banners. This is dependent on the availability of the cheer squad. Given the lengthy time each banner takes to make all requests must be made to the club in advance. Please contact the club on (08) 9381 1111 for further information.

Who's who of the WA Cheersquad

Peter and Diane are the backbone of the WA cheer squad. You will see Peter and Diane on a match day holding the banner or around the club talking to the many friends they have made over the years.

Proudly sponsored by Hungry Jack's, the cheer squad has been at capacity for the past few seasons; members interested in further information about this loyal group can contact the club on (08) 9381 1111

Hungry Jack's Victorian Cheer Squad
While it can be tough to be a West Coast Eagles supporter based in Melbourne it can also be a lot of fun! Our dedicated Victorian cheer squad always show their true colours, and cheer for our team with enthusiasm and a passionate loyalty at all West Coast Eagles matches played in Melbourne, Geelong, Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane.

A reliable team gets together throughout the season and makes the banner for the team to run through on match day. We are always looking for new members to get involved. For more information please email Claire at melbourne@wce.com.au or phone (03) 9211 0270.
