PART of being a good Toyota AFL Dream Team coach is being able to match reality with fantasy. This, in Dream Team terms, is to watch what's happening in games of footy and then work out how it might impact our weekly scores.

Last year smart coaches observed Hawthorn's new game plan- short, sharp and precise kicking in defence.

This translated into big Dream Team points for two Hawks in particular, with Matthew Suckling ($448,900) and Grant Birchall ($443,500) in the top-10 ranked defenders in the competition. Hawthorn finished the season as the best Dream Team club, scoring almost 800 more points than second-placed Collingwood.
