Australian Rules Football League of Ireland (ARFLI)

ARFLI

ARFLI was founded after the countries first best of three Grand Final had been contested in November 2000 between the Belfast Redbacks and the Dublin Demons.

In the first properly competitive season the Midland Tigers beat the Leeside Lions in the 9-A-Side Grand Final and the Dublin Demons beat the Leeside Lions in the Premiership Grand Final. Later that same year Ireland won all five of their games at the Atlantic Alliance Cup, including the Grand Final win over Denmark.

There are currently five teams in Ireland. They are the West Dublin Saints, Dublin Demons, South Dublin Swans, Mullingar Tigers and the Leeside Lions. Two additional teams are in a set up base and hope to see them play in the league next year. These teams are the Kingdon Kangaroos and the Mayo Mariners.
