BACKS
Chris Newman (Richmond)
– The Tiger vice-captain capped off a fine, albeit underrated season with another strong performance from defence. Newman won 30 disposals and had four inside 50s against Melbourne.

Luke McPharlin (Fremantle) – The versatile tall finished the season off strongly down back. After keeping Matthew Richardson in check in round 21, McPharlin shone against Collingwood with 18 touches and 11 marks (including three contested).

Joel Bowden (Richmond) – Vied for best-on-ground honours against Melbourne with 34 disposals (13 in the opening term), 13 marks and three goals. Bowden started down back on departing Demon Adem Yze, before mixing his time between defence and attack.

HALF BACKS
Luke Hodge (Hawthorn)
– The vice-captain returned from his one-match suspension to continue his brilliant form across half-back, amassing 32 disposals against Carlton. He also took eight marks and laid four tackles in a best-afield display.

Harry Taylor (Geelong)
– The first-year Cat played his best AFL match, holding West Coast premiership player Ashley Hansen to just two touches. Taylor claimed 23 disposals and was a rock down back.

Brendon Goddard (St Kilda) – Instrumental in St Kilda's stunning win over Essendon, Goddard was outstanding across half-back and through the midfield, picking up 30 disposals for the second consecutive round. His ball-use was simply first-class.

CENTRES
Kane Cornes (Port Adelaide)
– Showed yet again why he is one of best midfielders in the business, restricting North Melbourne dynamo Daniel Wells to just 15 touches, while winning 30 disposals himself. It was the culmination of another fine season for Cornes.

Jimmy Bartel (Geelong) – The reigning Brownlow Medallist may have claimed his second 'Charlie' after yet another outstanding effort, this time against West Coast. He finished with 28 disposals, nine tackles and five clearances.

Nathan van Berlo (Adelaide) – Continued his fine season with 22 disposals and two goals against the Western Bulldogs and was his side's best in its nine-point win. Van Berlo also laid seven tackles and had six inside 50s.

HALF-FORWARDS
Jarred Moore (Sydney Swans)
– Has progressed strongly in 2008 and played his best match yet with four goals against the Brisbane Lions. Moore also had 16 contested possessions from his 22 touches, lay six tackles and managed six clearances.

Nick Riewoldt (St Kilda) – Capped off a brilliant home-and-away season, particularly his second half of the year, with an inspirational display against Essendon. Riewoldt booted 4.5, had 21 disposals and took 11 marks, including three contested.

David Rodan (Port Adelaide) – Kicked a career-best five goals against North Melbourne to be among his side's best in its 76-point win. Rodan also had five inside 50s and five tackles.

FORWARDS
Jeff Farmer (Fremantle)
– With speculation mounting about his playing future, Farmer produced far and away his best match of the season, winning 21 disposals and booting three goals, including a gem from the boundary line.

Steve Johnson (Geelong) – The reigning Norm Smith Medallist equaled his career-best tally of six goals against West Coast. Johnson also won 28 disposals and had four inside 50s. It was 'Stevie J' at his finest.

Stephen Milne (St Kilda) – Continued to silence his critics with an outstanding seven-goal display against Essendon on the back of playing last round with another fractured cheekbone. His courage and ability to perform through adversity recently has been remarkable.

FOLLOWERS
Ivan Maric (Adelaide)
– The emerging ruckman was instrumental in the win against the Western Bulldogs, producing one of his best efforts yet in the AFL. Maric finished with 24 hit-outs, 18 disposals and six inside 50s.

Jordan Lewis (Hawthorn) – Coming off his outstanding 33-disposal effort against West Coast, Lewis mamnaged 35 touches against Carlton, including 13 in the opening term when the Hawks got off to a flier. He also had eight clearances and eight inside 50s.

Peter Burgoyne (Port Adelaide) – Finished off his season in remarkable form, winning 37 disposals against Melbourne in round 21 and then 45 touches against North Melbourne in the Power's last match for 2008. He also won 12 clearances.

INTERCHANGE
Rhys Palmer (Fremantle)
– Ended his inaugural AFL season with another fine display, claiming 27 touches, including 10 in the first quarter, against Collingwood. He is likely to vie with Hawthorn's Cyril Rioli for this year's NAB AFL Rising Star Medal.

Brett Deledio (Richmond) – Finished off his best AFL season with another standout effort. Deledio won 25 touches, 10 marks (four contested) and four goals against Melbourne and is a genuine Jack Dyer Medal prospect for Richmond's best and faireset this season.

Jason Gram (St Kilda) – Instrumental in the last quarter when the Saints needed to claim fourth spot and a finals double chance, winning 10 of his 27 disposals. Gram also booted three goals and had eight inside 50s.

Shane Tuck (Richmond) – One of the form players of the competition during the second half of the season, Tuck was excellent for the Tigers again, winning 30 disposals, including 21 touches by half time. He also had seven inside 50s.
