VICTORIA Metro has taken out the Division One NAB AFL Under-16 Grand Final, holding off Western Australia to win by seven points.

In the curtain-raiser to this afternoon’s Toyota AFL Grand Final, the Vics led by 27 points at half time, only to see WA storm back in the second half.

Holding the Vics to just a single goal in the final quarter, the Sandgropers could have pinched the game, but wasted a string of chances to finish on 7.14 (56) to Vic Metro’s 8.15 (63).

Skipper Ben Jacobs spearheaded the Vics’ win with two goals, while bullocking youngster Luke Mitchell kicked two goals at full-forward.

David Swallow - the younger brother of North Melbourne's Andrew - was again classy for Western Australia, kicking two goals.

Centre half-forward Jack Darling also worked hard for the losers.
