The moment: The Bombers could sense a revival when Kyle Hardingham’s marked on the stroke of half time, but he missed from 15m out straight in front. As the siren rang Blue Paul Bower let him know about it. That led to tempers flaring and an all-in melee. Get your wallets ready, boys.

2. Sydney Swans 19.15 (129) d Hawthorn 13.7 (85) at the SCG

The moment: Fate may have cruelled him in the third quarter, but not so in the final term as Lewis Jetta kicked his first goal in AFL footy on his 20th attempt. He was in space ran into traffic and finished with a brilliant banana as the SCG gave him a standing ovation and his teammates came from everywhere to hug it out.

3. North Melbourne 19.9 (123) d Fremantle 10.9 (69) at Etihad Stadium

The moment: Waiting for the bounce of a football can seem an eternity; just ask Paul Hasleby. Deep into the third quarter, Hasleby found himself in the goalsquare 20m in the clear. Nathan Fyfe's kick didn't quite find its target and the bouncing ball fell to the favour of another Nathan Grima and an almost certain Fremantle goal went begging.

4. Collingwood 14.23 (107) d Geelong 12.13 (85) at MCG

The moment: Travis Cloke inspired his side just when they needed it most. With the game in the balance and the third quarter winding down, Cloke saw the opportunity to be third man up in a ruck duel. Stealing the ball from the ruck, he broke two tackles to dish off to Dayne Beams, whose goal gave the Pies a 13-point lead.

5. Brisbane Lions 10.10 (70) d West Coast 9.11 (65) at Subiaco Oval

The moment: With the wooden spoon on the line for the loser of Saturday night's clash at Subiaco, the final quarter went down to the wire. Lions captain Jonathan Brown got rid of Eagles defender Mitch Brown, took a strong mark and lined up for goal. He kicked truly with only second left to give his side a rare win.

6. St Kilda 23.13 (151) d Port Adelaide 8.9 (94) at Etihad Stadium

The moment: Matthew Broadbent tried to deceive the Saints’ defenders by passing the ball to Robbie Gray and unleashing his shoe at the same time. Both ball and boot flew through the air together like dual missiles, with the former landing in Gray’s arms before he kicked it through for a goal. Broadbent’s boot, meanwhile, landed in the pocket.

7. Melbourne 16.13 (109) d Richmond 11.14 (80) at the MCG

The moment: Richmond ruckman Andrew Browne was awarded a free kick and when the umpire pointed the wrong way, Browne shaped to kick it the wrong way. Once he realised what had happened, Browne tried to play on, which was illegal as he was about eight metres over the mark. Laughter filled the terraces, before Browne finally dished off a legal handball and play continued.

8. Western Bulldogs 8.13 (61) d Adelaide 7.11 (53) at AAMI Stadium

The moment: Taylor Walker had a serious brain fade in the third term. Kurt Tippett gave a free kick away but Walker took the ball and booted it towards goal. The 50m penalty was awarded but Walker wasn’t finished. He knocked Liam Picken to the ground, giving the Bulldogs a 100m walk down the field. Fortunately for him the Dogs failed to convert from the opportunity.
