FORMER Fitzroy and Collingwood half-forward Doug Barwick admits he still feels sad the Lions could not continue in the AFL in their own right.

But Barwick has no regrets about leaving Fitzroy for the Magpies after the 1987 season, which is no great surprise given he went on to play in Collingwood's drought-breaking 1990 Grand Final win over Essendon.

"I really wanted to be successful and taste a premiership," Barwick says in the latest episode of Life After Footy.

"At that stage we were starting to lose players at Fitzroy and the future was uncertain.

"I was out of contract, Collingwood approached me … and it was a great move. I'm glad I did it."

In his appearance on Life After Footy, Barwick speaks about growing up in Tasmania, his time with the Lions and what it was like to be part of that famous Magpies side.

He also takes us on a tour of the popular golf store that he owns and runs these days in Melbourne's northern suburbs.

And for all the Richmond fans out there, Life After Footy will next week be catching up with All Australian defender Andrew Kellaway, who has just begun a new career as a fireman.
