RICHMOND ruckman Angus Graham is going to Adelaide on a two-year-deal after an exchange of late picks between the clubs.

The Tigers have given up Graham and pick 50 in exchange for Adelaide's pick 40.

Those selections might drop a place or two after the free-agency compensations are announced after 5pm on Friday.

Graham played 48 games and kicked 18 goals for Richmond after making his debut in 2007.

At Adelaide, he will join Josh Jenkins as a back-up ruckman for Sam Jacobs, who was considered unlucky to miss out on the 2012 All Australian team.

Kurt Tippett's decision to seek a trade out of Adelaide threatened to leave the Crows without a genuine back-up for Jacobs, with Jenkins better suited as a forward than as a ruckman.

Graham, 25, played only one game in 2012, against Gold Coast in round 16, during a season in which he was unable to push past Tigers recruit Ivan Maric for the main ruckman's spot.

Maric had been recruited from Adelaide after being traded for selection No.37 in the 2011 NAB AFL Draft.

But Graham, who shares near-identical physical attributes to Tippett at 201cm and 106kg, averaged almost 24 hit-outs a game in 2011.

His exit from Richmond might pave the way for fellow big man Tom Derickx to remain at Punt Road.

Dreickx, 24, played two games with the Tigers in 2012 after making his debut against Melbourne in round 16.

The careers of Derickx, Jayden Post and Luke McGuane have been uncertain during this trade period.
