Lions midfielder Jack Redden is a premium AFL Fantasy option

BRISBANE LIONS
The Lions had few elite Fantasy options in 2012, with Jack Redden the only player to average more than 95 (he averaged 103). That is because, quite simply, Michael Voss' team didn't win enough of the ball - the Lions ranked 14th in kicks per game and 13th in disposals per game. The problem started in the midfield, where they ranked 17th in clearances. This, in turn, meant limited opportunities for the forwards, with the Lions averaging 7.5 fewer inside 50s per game than their opposition. - Mark Macgugan

THE TOP SCORERS
Jack Redden
2012 AFL Fantasy average score:
103
2013 AFL Fantasy Dream Team price: $531,100
2013 AFL Fantasy position: Mid
Mr Fantasy says: Emerging star and a great Dream Team pick. Scored 100 or more on 13 occasions last season. Must consider.

Tom Rockliff
2012 average score:
94
2013 price: $481,700
2013 position: Fwd/Mid
Mr Fantasy says: Another emerging midfield star for the Lions who is capable of some huge scores. Worth the hefty price tag.

Pearce Hanley
2012 average score:
83
2013 price: $425,300
2013 position: Def
Mr Fantasy says: Had a great season last year, including a high score of 134 in round 13. Comes at a high price in 2013.

Jed Adcock
2012 average score:
81
2013 price: $418,000
2013 position: Def
Mr Fantasy says: Quality defender who rebounds very well, highlighted by his solid average. Expect a similar output this year.

Daniel Rich
2012 average score:
85
2013 price: $439,000
2013 position: Mid
Mr Fantasy says: In 2012, Rich was back to form he showed in his debut year. Finished with an average of more than 85. Still to reach his prime.

Jonathan Brown
2012 average score:
80
2013 price: $409,600
2013 position: Fwd
Mr Fantasy says: Averaged 80 and – more importantly – played 20 games last season. Age and injury history make him a risk at the price, however.

Dayne Zorko
2012 average score:
95
2013 price: $487,800
2013 position: Mid/Fwd
Mr Fantasy says: Livewire forward/midfielder who had an amazing debut season, averaging 95. Comes at a price this year but looks the goods.

Daniel Merrett
2012 average score:
71
2013 price: $351,000
2013 position: Def/Fwd
Mr Fantasy says: Dour defender who had some success as a forward last season. Can be an inconsistent scorer so I’d pass.

Simon Black
2012 average score:
82
2013 price: $421,300
2013 position: Mid
Mr Fantasy says: Dream Team output not as significant as it once was, but he still scored more than 80 a game in 2012. Younger midfield stars are a better choice.

Andrew Raines
2012 average score:
61
2013 price: $312,900
2013 position: Mid
Mr Fantasy says: Averaged 60 last season and you would expect a similar average this year. Better backline options available.
