Hawthorn's fondness for retaining possession of the ball in its back half means it is worth including at least one of the club's defenders in your team. Matt Suckling and Grant Birchall have both been capable of big scores, and that shouldn't change this year. At the other end, the Hawks kicked more goals than any other team last season, meaning their forwards can be strongly considered as well. However, if 2012 is anything to go by, think carefully before including rookie-priced Hawks in your line-up. Alastair Clarkson awarded only one AFL debut last year (to Bradley Hill) and, with the team again expected to contend for the top four, spots won't be any easier to come by.

2013 price: $457,800
2013 position: Mid
Mr Fantasy says: Enjoyed a consistent 2012 with 14 scores of 80 or more, but not likely to give you huge totals. I’d look elsewhere.

2013 price: $457,800
2013 position: Fwd/Mid
Mr Fantasy says: Looks likely to miss the majority of the 2013 season after serious knee injury in last year's finals.

Jarryd Roughead
2012 average score:
92
2013 price: $472,200
2013 position: Fwd/Ruck
Mr Fantasy says: Averaged more than 90 last season after pinch-hitting in the ruck in a role that suited him. Pricey, but scores well.

Matt Suckling
2012 average score:
83
2013 price: $426,900
2013 position: Def
Mr Fantasy says: A very popular Dream Team choice as he often sets up the Hawks from half-back. Can also kick goals. Good selection.

Grant Birchall
2012 average score:

2013 position: Fwd/Ruck

Cyril Rioli

2012 average score: 83
2013 price: $425,800
2013 position: Fwd/Mid
