Jack Grimes again looms as a solid AFL Fantasy pick for your backline, Mr Fantasy says

The Demons were one of the worst-performed fantasy teams in 2013. Put simply, the Demons just didn't win enough of the ball, ranking last in disposals a game last season. They have tried to address this issue in recruiting, to assist Nathan Jones and co in the engine room. Jack Viney, David Rodan, Jimmy Toumpas are likely to play in round one and make a difference in this area. Jack Grimes remains a premium defender and Chris Dawes should add more scoring power up forward.  There is no doubt, drastic improvement, in a range of categories, will be expected at Demonland this season.

2012's top scorers
Jack Grimes
AFL Fantasy 2012 average score:
92
AFL Fantasy Dream Team 2013 price: $474,000
AFL Fantasy 2013 position: Def
Mr Fantasy says: The co-captain was the Demons' best Dream Team player in 2012, averaging more than 90. Not cheap but is a solid backline option.

Nathan Jones
2012 average score:
89
2013 price: $456,600
2013 position: Mid
Mr Fantasy says: Hard-working midfielder who is a very consistent Dream Team scorer. Won’t dazzle you with huge scores but pushes 100 frequently.

Jeremy Howe
2012 average score:
77
2013 price: $394,600
2013 position: Fwd
Mr Fantasy says: High-flying forward who had three scores of 100 or more in 2012. Needs to work on his consistency.

Jack Trengove
2012 average score:
76
2013 price: $391,300
2013 position: Fwd
Mr Fantasy says: Decreased in price by more than $90,000 at season’s end, highlighting his so-so year. Still a Dream Team risk.

Colin Garland
2012 average score:
62
2013 price: $318,300
2013 position: Def
Mr Fantasy says: Averaged a tick over 60 last season and there’s no reason to suggest that mark will increase in 2013. Pass.

Jordie McKenzie
2012 average score:
67
2013 price: $343,600
2013 position: Mid
Mr Fantasy says: Failed to reach triple figures in any of his 20 games last year. Look to others.

Colin Sylvia
2012 average score:
76
2013 price: $393,100
2013 position: Fwd/Mid
Mr Fantasy says: Again teased Dream Teamers with signs of excellence last year when he a good finish to the season. Too risky at his price.

Tom McDonald
2012 average score:
62
2013 price: $321,700
2013 position: Def
Mr Fantasy says: Youngster who played 20 games at an average of 62 last year. Not on the Dream Team radar at this stage.

James Frawley
2012 average score:
64
2013 price: $328,600
2013 position: Def
Mr Fantasy says: Classy backman who doesn't win a great deal of the ball. I’d look for more attacking defenders.

Rohan Bail
2012 average score:
61
2013 price: $316,000
2013 position: Mid
Mr Fantasy says: Hasn't been a huge scorer and looks set to average in the 60s again in 2013.
