Andrew Swallow again looms as a top AFL Fantasy pick, Mr Fantasy says

The Kangaroos played a fast, exciting brand of footy in 2012, averaging 107 points (team score, not Dream Team) a game. They have a strong group of young players with between 35 and 65 games' experience – including Shaun Atley, Jack Ziebell, Kieran Harper, Ben Cunnington and Ryan Bastinac – who will all aim to up their averages and propel Brad Scott's team further up the ladder this year. However, when considering a North Melbourne player for your team, take the fixture into account. The Roos were one of only two teams to play Gold Coast and GWS twice last year; this year their return match-ups include Hawthorn, Adelaide, Collingwood and Geelong. No easy points against that lot.

AFL Fantasy 2012 average score:
92

Brent Harvey
2012 average score:
88
2013 price: $452,000
2013 position: Fwd/Mid
Mr Fantasy says: Again showed his durability, playing all 22 home and away games in 2012 and averaging close to 90. Nearing the end but still looks a viable option.

Drew Petrie
2012 average score:
81
2013 price: $419,000
2013 position: Fwd
Mr Fantasy says: Had four scores of 110 or more last year as a power forward and looks ready for another solid season.

Liam Anthony
2012 average score:
97
2013 price: $499,200
2013 position: Mid
Mr Fantasy says: Scored at least 90 in 13 of his 18 games last year. Not cheap but is a genuine high-scoring Dream Teamer.

Ryan Bastinac
2012 average score:
79
2013 price: $405,800
2013 position: Mid
Mr Fantasy says: Classy midfielder who doesn’t come cheap this year, but proved last season that he can accumulate points very quickly.

Daniel Wells
2012 average score:
87
2013 price: $448,200
2013 position: Mid
Mr Fantasy says: The difference between his best and worst Dream Team scores is still vast. Had seven 100-plus scores last season.

Todd Goldstein
2012 average score:
79
2013 price: $407,300
2013 position: Ruck
Mr Fantasy says: Decreased in value by $146,000 by season’s end, mainly thanks to a very slow start to the year. Improved as the year went on and is fairly priced.

Ben Cunnington
2012 average score:
75
2013 price: $387,500
2013 position: Mid
Mr Fantasy says: Slowly finding his feet at AFL level, and finished 2012 with scores of 110, 95 and 100. Worth considering.

Scott Thompson
2012 average score:
70
2013 price: $360,100
2013 position: Def
Mr Fantasy says: Solid defender capable of some big scores (139 in round 22), but also managed eight scores of fewer than 60 in 2012. Pass.

Michael Firrito
2012 average score:
62
2013 price: $319,200
2013 position: Mid
Mr Fantasy says: Does his job every week but has never been a great Dream Team scorer. Look elsewhere.
