HAWTHORN great Shane Crawford is confident out-of-contract star Lance Franklin will stay with the Hawks.

Crawford has posted a video on crawf.com.au to express his belief that the superstar forward choose to remain a Hawk for life rather than accept a massive offer from Greater Western Sydney.

Hawthorn recently tabled to Franklin and his management the biggest contract offer in the club's history.

"My heart is telling me right now, more than ever, that he will stay with the mighty Hawks," Crawford said.

"His next contract is going to be massive from either club, although he could get more money if he went elsewhere. But I think Hawthorn have done everything possible to give him the very best offer.

"He loves the club, he loves the players, he loves the supporters, and he certainly doesn’t forget that the Hawthorn Football Club was the one club that really believed in him when they drafted him.

"So for me, Buddy Franklin will stay at the Hawks for the rest of his career, which is great because he is going to be a Hawk for life."

Crawford and Franklin were premiership teammates in 2008.
