THE AFL community is coming together to rally around Rick Bannister, the brother of former player and umpire Jordan, to raise much-needed funds for his medical expenses.

Rick became a quadriplegic after falling from a horse in April, and needs round-the-clock care.

Jordan retired from umpiring AFL football on Wednesday in order to dedicate more time to his family.

The Bannisters will hold a fundraiser on Friday 15 November at Etihad Stadium, with Daryl Braithwaite, Dave Hughes, Andy Maher, Stephen Quartermain, Brendan Fevola and Jason McCartney among the celebrities who have volunteered their time.

All details of the event can be found at www.rickybannister.com.au.
