The Yarra Valley Mountain District Community Bank Football Netball League (YVMDFNL) is seeking applications for the role of Chief Executive Officer.

The YVMDFNL is a country football netball league affiliated with both the AFL and Netball VIC.  The YVMDFNL consists of Senior, Reserves, Under 18 and Veterans Grade Football.  It also includes A, A Res, B, and B Res Grade Netball.  There are two Divisions.  The YVMDFNL also administer the DRJFL and Yarra Ranges Umpires.  In all, there over 4,500 athletes in the Yarra Valley and surrounding areas participating in the sports of football and netball.  The CEO has one full time, 2 part time and several trainees reporting to the position.

The Board of the YVMDFNL is seeking a CEO who leads with integrity and has the ability to build on YVMDFNL’s reputation as a strong and innovative football netball competition.

The CEO will be responsible for building on a sound business model and delivering a netball and football competition that affords athletes the opportunity to play their chosen sports in a safe and family friendly environment.

The role will require a professional business manager/leader with energy and vision. The CEO will have the requisite skills to navigate through complex issues and prioritise, manage and deliver outcomes to achieve the objectives of the YVMDFNL.  The CEO will also be an inspirational manager with the ability to lead the development of the YVMDFNL’s staff, officials, member clubs and the wider community.

The YVMDFNL are seeking applicants with

  • Tertiary qualification in business, sports management or relevant field.
  • Demonstrated strategy, analysis and leadership skills.
  • Previous involvement  with community sport.
  • Sound understanding of governance practices and accountability.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Sound knowledge of MYOB and/or related accounting packages.
  • Developed IT skills.
  • Experience in commercial partnership, sponsorship, marketing or sales management.
  • A proven ability to show initiative, plan, set priorities and manage change.
  • A preparedness to work extended hours including after-hours meetings and weekends during the football season.
  • Football & netball knowledge and experience
