- Lake finally returns for Hawthorn
- Cats leave out Motlop for Port clash
- Mitch Honeychurch only an emergency for Bulldogs

NORM Smith medallist Brian Lake has been recalled for Hawthorn's clash against Richmond on Sunday, with Kyle Cheney the unlucky Hawk to make way.

Cheney could consider himself stiff to be dropped after playing admirably above his height and weight range in defence in the first five rounds.

But the 186cm defender was monstered by Geelong's power forward Tom Hawkins in the crucial final term on Easter Monday, with the big Cat booting three goals.

Lake coming back in for his first game since last year's Grand Final is the only change for Hawthorn, with Ryan Schoenmakers forced to wait a little longer for his return from a knee reconstruction.

Schoenmakers, Cheney and first-year player Billy Hartung are the Hawks' emergencies.

Richmond has brought back young utility Matt McDonough to replace midfielder Matt Thomas for the Sunday game at the MCG.

Ben Lennon, Jake Batchelor and Brad Helbig are the emergencies for the Tigers.

Geelong has included dashing defender Jackson Thurlow to take on Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval.

Thurlow takes Andrew Mackie's (hamstring) place in the 22, with Steven Motlop forced to wait another week for his return and will play in the VFL once more.

Jordan Schroder and Josh Walker are Geelong's other emergencies.

Jack Hombsch is back in for Port Adelaide, replacing Cam O'Shea.

O'Shea, Ben Newton and Jake Neade will all be emergencies for the Power on Sunday afternoon.

The Western Bulldogs have left out potential debutant Mitch Honeychurch, bringing in Tory Dickson and Tom Campbell to play Adelaide at Etihad Stadium.

Mitch Wallis and Tom Williams made way from the team which lost to Carlton by 28 points.

Lachie Hunter, Honeychurch and Fletcher Roberts have been named as emergencies for Sunday’s clash.

Adelaide has brought back young midfielder Mitch Grigg as its only change after Richard Douglas was suspended.

Swingman Andy Otten and ball winners Jarryd Lyons and Brodie Martin are the emergencies.

North Melbourne will welcome back key midfielder Jack Ziebell for its crucial face-off with Fremantle at Patersons Stadium on Friday.

The Roos have also named Majak Daw, Joel Tippett – for his first game in North Melbourne colours – and Robin Nahas.

Fremantle has brought back youngsters Tom Sheridan and Hayden Crozier, with the suspended Hayden Ballantyne and Matt Taberner going out of the side.

Veteran defender Heath Shaw returns for Greater Western Sydney against Gold Coast as the expansion clubs battle at Metricon Stadium on Saturday.

Shaw and highly-rated 20-year-old midfielder Jono O'Rourke come in at the expense of Toby Greene (suspension) and Josh Kelly (hamstring).

Timmy Sumner is the Suns' sole inclusion, with veteran defender Matthew Warnock sent back to the NEAFL.

Experienced Blues Michael Jamison, Brock McLean, Jeff Garlett and Mitch Robinson make their way back into Carlton's side for its match against West Coast at Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Will Schofield, Scott Lycett and debutant Jeremy McGovern are in for the Eagles, with Darren Glass (suspended), Xavier Ellis (calf) and Josh Hill not making the trip to Melbourne.

Goodes' return could well be in the green substitute's vest, if Swans coach John Longmire's forecast on Thursday morning is to be believed.

"He's really keen to get back and play," Longmire said before the teams were released.

"We've spoken about … whether he comes in as a sub and looks good in green or not."

Melbourne has made three changes to its team, with highly-touted youngster Christian Salem to make his debut while veteran ruckman Mark Jamar returns.

Salem, the Demons' first-round pick (No. 9 overall) in last year's NAB AFL Draft, collected 32 possessions in the VFL last week.

Shannon Byrnes is the other inclusion, with Jordie McKenzie, Jake Spencer and Michael Evans all dropped.
