NORTH Melbourne has been given the green light to wear its Indigenous Round guernsey against Richmond at Etihad Stadium on Sunday night.

North wore the strip in its win over West Coast at Patersons Stadium last weekend, but indigenous forward Lindsay Thomas has pushed for the Roos to wear the guernsey in front of the club's home supporters.

The unusual request has the backing of the playing group, who are keen to pull on the Sarrita King-designed strip once again.

"Lindsay Thomas has put in a direct request to the AFL to wear our indigenous jumper again," North coach Brad Scott said on Thursday.

"Sarrita King did a great job with the design, we think. We're a little biased, but we think it's the best indigenous jumper in the competition and we really want to wear it in front of our home supporters.

"The boys are really keen to wear it again and pay homage to our fantastic indigenous heritage.

"I think it's an important round and the round fell interstate for us, which was fantastic for our Perth supporters – we've got a lot of supporters over there – but we'd like to wear it in front of our home supporters as well."

North takes on the Tigers on Sunday night in what will be the 100th match in the hot seat for senior coaches Brad Scott and Damien Hardwick.
