THE AUSTRALIAN Sports Anti-Doping Authority has shifted the July 11 deadline set for the 34 past and present Essendon players who have received show-cause notices.

However, a new deadline is yet to be determined. It is the second time ASADA has moved the deadline.

Players - and their lawyers - are waiting to see evidence from ASADA and it has been reported that a new deadline will only be set once ASADA makes a decision on that request.

When ASADA makes that decision the players will have 14 days to respond to the show-cause notices. If ASADA denies the request, the players' lawyers may challenge its decision in court.

Any responses to the show-cause notices sent to ASADA will be forwarded to the Anti-Doping Rule Violation Panel (ADVRP).

The ADVRP's role is to review all anti-doping cases acted on by ASADA.
