GOLD Coast's Jack Martin has won the NAB Rising Star nomination for Round 23 after a superb showing against West Coast on Sunday.

Martin stood head and shoulders above his teammates in the 52-point loss, finishing with 19 disposals and kicking four goals.

"I try to make my preparation as good as I can during the week so it's definitely nice to get on the end of a few," Martin told goldcoastfc.com.au post-match.

"It gives me a lot of confidence going into next year. We're going to have a big pre-season and we're looking forward to next year.

Martin's performance rounded out a difficult season for the West Australian prodigy, who dislocated his shoulder in the opening minutes of his Round 1 debut against Richmond.

He returned in Round 14 against Geelong and played the final 10 games.

Martin was picked by the Suns at the end of 2012 as a pre-draft 17-year-old trade incentive selection under the rules for the establishment of Greater Western Sydney.

He spent last season with the Suns' reserves in the NEAFL and has got better the further this year has worn on.

Against the Eagles he showed much of his limitless ability, hitting targets off both feet and even taking a soaring third-quarter pack mark.

The Rising Star winner will be named on Wednesday.
