The AFL wishes to advise the venues were today confirmed for week three of the 2014 Toyota AFL Finals Series to be as follows (all times are LOCAL):

Friday September 19
First Preliminary Final – Sydney Swans v Second Semi Final Winner Geelong Cats / North Melbourne at ANZ Stadium, 7.50pm

Saturday September 20
Second Preliminary Final – Hawthorn v First Semi Final Winner Fremantle/Port Adelaide at the MCG, time tbc (series ticket match).

AFL General Manager Broadcasting, Scheduling and Major Projects Simon Lethlean said the First Preliminary Final had now been confirmed at ANZ Stadium between the Sydney Swans and the winner of the Second Semi Final, while the starting time for the MCG preliminary final would be determined when Hawthorn’s opponent was known.

Mr Lethlean said the MCG match time would be based around ensuring that the visiting team would be able to return to its home state that night, should either Port Adelaide or Fremantle then qualify to play in the 2014 Toyota AFL Grand Final.

The AFL has been working with its partner airline Virgin and is greatly appreciative of their support to ensure that the visiting team for the Second Preliminary Final will be able to return to either Adelaide or Perth that night, after the match.

The First Preliminary Final was confirmed at ANZ Stadium as the venue will not host any commitments between last Saturday’s First Qualifying Final and September 19.

Tickets for the preliminary finals will go on sale next Monday September 15 to club members at 9am, with general public sales from 2pm.
