Most of the spotlight is naturally stolen by the partners of players – colloquially known as "WAGs" (wives and girlfriends) – most of whom would already be preparing to don stunning garments and hairstyles for their appearance on the red carpet.
The players themselves also face some fashion decisions of their own - should they play the percentages or take a risk? With the blokes, much like in a game of footy, the percentages generally win.

And this is certainly the case with Hawthorn star Jordan Lewis and Essendon counterpart David Zaharakis, both of whom AFL Media caught up with last week during a suit fitting.
The pair, who will both be attending their third Brownlow count, prefer classic, formal attire, tailor-made by Sam & Ko (formerly Soho Workshop).
Lewis quips: "I'm not (teammate) Josh Gibson so I like to keep things fairly plain and simple. Nothing too outrageous."
It's a huge few weeks for Lewis.
The 28-year-old, who last week earned his first All Australian selection, hopes to win a third premiership on Saturday, before his wedding to fiancee Lucy Freer on October 10.
Lewis and his bride-to-be will also attend tonight's Brownlow count.
"They're few and far between – I don't often get invited because I usually get suspended during the year," he says.
Both Lewis and Zaharakis believe this year's count will be a close, open race.
Lewis favours Port Adelaide's Robbie Gray and expects former teammate Lance Franklin to buck the trend of forwards not polling well.
Zaharakis, who will take his girlfriend Paige Harris to the count, believes there could be multiple winners, with Gold Coast skipper Gary Ablett junior to lead at the halfway mark but to face strong opposition from the likes of Bombers' teammate Dyson Heppell, Geelong captain Joel Selwood and Collingwood skipper Scott Pendlebury.
Sam & Ko, run by Box Hill Hawks board member Sam Koulis, is dressing players for the Brownlow for the 10th year, and will look after the fashion needs of about 30 players tonight.
Koulis says professional relationships have developed into friendships, with players inviting him to their weddings and birthdays.
He recalls a funny instance from a few years ago when Ablett was to take along a mate to the Brownlow and Koulis was to dress both of them. As an in-shop gag at Ablett's expense, Koulis attired the mate in female clothing.
"That was gold," he says.
