AFL Cairns has a rare and exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our small team in the position of Umpiring Manager.

As Umpiring Manager you will work in conjunction with AFL Cairns, AFL Cairns Juniors and AFL Cairns Women’s League and their Boards of Management and Football Operations departments to oversee the umpire administration and umpire development for the three Leagues, along with their associated programs.

The key duties of the position include;

  • Coaching, training, developing and observing umpires within the AFL Cairns competitions; 
  • Recruitment and retention of umpires within the umpiring group, in all disciplines;
  • Managing umpiring appointments and associated administration;
  • Liaising with member Clubs in relation to Laws of the Game and umpiring matters.

The successful applicant will have highly developed communication skills, a thorough understanding of Australian Rules football and the Laws of Australian Rules Football and previous experience in both a sporting environment and working with volunteers.
