GREATER Western Sydney chairman Tony Shepherd has revealed his ambitious targets for the AFL's newest club, saying he'll be disappointed if they don't make an inaugural finals appearance in the next two years.

Shepherd unveiled his goals at the Giants' season launch on Wednesday night.

The Giants are buzzing with optimism after their two NAB Challenge wins and securing contract extensions for a number of key players, including co-captain Phil Davis and star forward Jeremy Cameron.

They went from one win in 2013 to six last year, when they finished 16th.

The continuing improvement of their predominantly young list has sparked hopes of success in the not too distant future.

As the Giants enter their fourth season in the AFL, Shepherd has outlined clear goals for both on and off-field success over the next four years.

"Make no mistake, we want to play finals football and will be disappointed if we don't achieve this in the next two years," Shepherd said at the launch.

"We also aspire to play in Grand Finals and win premierships. It's the reason everyone plays the game."

Shepherd also set off-field targets for the club that plays games in Sydney and Canberra, seeking to build on their 2014 tally of 13,000 members.

"By 2018, when we are hopefully contending for a premiership, we want to have 20,000 members and average crowds of 20,000 at Spotless Stadium and 10,000 at StarTrack Oval Canberra," Shepherd said.

"We are under no illusions that these are ambitious goals that will require a renewed commitment to excellence through hard work and innovation."

The Giants complete their NAB Challenge campaign on Sunday, with a game in Canberra against arch-rival the Sydney Swans.
