The AFL's official attendance figure for Opening Round of the 2015 Toyota AFL Premiership Season was 360,354, representing the seventh-best total for a single round in the history of the game.

AFL Chief Executive Officer Gillon McLachlan said he wanted to thank AFL supporters across all parts of the country for their enthusiasm towards the return of the AFL competition, and to pay tribute to the ongoing work of the AFL clubs and players across the competition in building their relationships with supporters.

"AFL fans have had to be patient this year, after a delayed start to our season thanks to Australia’s fantastic performance in winning the cricket World Cup on home soil, but it was tremendous to see the support across the country for the return of our clubs to full-scale competition,” Mr McLachlan said.

“Carlton and Richmond opened the season in thrilling fashion and the opening round was punctuated by great matches and great highlights across the whole of the Easter weekend.

“The attendance of 360,354 for Opening Round is the seventh-best for any opening to the season in history, behind only 2012, 2013 and 2007, and AFL club membership across the competition is already well on track to eclipse last year’s all-time record tally of 804,480 members.

“The clubs have worked extremely hard in concert with our venues on presenting the best possible environment for fans on match day, while our players continue to deliver the most spectacular highlights for our only indigenous game,” he said.
