CARLTON will attempt to build a substantial Mother's Day crowd by offering free tickets to its clash against the Brisbane Lions on Sunday at Etihad Stadium.

The Blues hope the freebies will attract their fans after last weekend's poor loss to Collingwood in coach Mick Malthouse's record-breaking game.

Fans are being offered 2-for-1 general admission tickets, while members will also get a free ticket.

As it's a Sunday game, children will be granted free entry and will also be offered free popcorn and fairy floss at half-time.

Carlton CEO Steven Trigg told News Corp families would be able to attend the game together for $25.

"We are the only game in town on Sunday and it's a terrific opportunity for an affordable family day at the football,'' he said.

"Anyone buying a general admission adult ticket will receive one free, while members can also claim a free ticket.

"Being a Sunday kids also receive free entry, so it means a family can come along to the football for $25.

"It's a great affordable way to celebrate Mother's Day."
