WHEN Ken Hinkley wants a tight, close-checking defensive job done, he calls on Jack Hombsch. When he wants a goal, he knows it's best to look elsewhere.

Unless Hombsch sneaks forward against the Cats on Friday night and kicks truly, he'll bring up a half-century of games without a major. The former Giant has kicked just the three behinds in his career so it's not as if he's had to many chances to break his goal duck.

Hombsch has a way to travel before he challenges former Collingwood defender Ted Potter in this barren run. Potter's misdirected handball was intercepted by Barry Breen for the game-winning behind in the 1966 Grand Final, but he also achieved the remarkable distinction of playing 182 games without ever kicking a goal. That's some streak.

Check out who else is challenging history this weekend.
