FANS have three more chances to have a post-match kick on Etihad Stadium this year.

The AFL and Etihad Stadium announced on Wednesday that matches at the venue in rounds 21, 22 and 23 would be followed by kick-to-kick.

North Melbourne v Fremantle (round 21), St Kilda v Sydney Swans (round 22) and Melbourne v Greater Western Sydney (round 23) are all played on Sundays and will all have kick-to-kick after the final siren.

AFL general manager of clubs and operations, Travis Auld, said the initiative brought back this season had proved hugely successful.

"We’ve been in discussions with Etihad Stadium over the past week and we are really pleased that they have agreed to reintroduce kick-to-kick at the back end of the season," Auld said.

"We will soon begin discussions with Etihad Stadium and the MCG to hopefully see this initiative continue in 2016."

Etihad Stadium CEO Paul Sergeant reiterated the positive reaction to the Sunday afternoon initiative.

"It’s clear that fans want the experience," Sergeant said.

"Family groups have turned out in force and at the end of the games. We’ve noticed an absolute eagerness to get on to the arena.

"An important issue, however, for the Etihad Stadium management team is ensuring our playing surface is not impacted by the activity.

"Despite Melbourne’s very cold winter, which does have an impact on turf conditions as well as the growth of grass, the ground has stood up extremely well.

"Certainly from Etihad Stadium’s perspective, kick-to-kick in 2015 to this stage has been a great success and we will endeavour to work with the AFL to provide a similar experience next year.”
