The Western Bulldogs, as one of the 18 clubs of the Australian Football League (AFL) and situated in the fastest growing region of Australia are offering an exciting opportunity to become the club’s Fan Engagement Coordinator.  A major part of the Fan Engagement Coordinator’s role will be to assist in implementing the Western Bulldogs’ Fan Engagement Strategy that commits to grow the fan base and increase engagement with existing Western Bulldogs fans. 

The successful candidate will take ownership of a number of key strategic activities that help “sell” AFL and in particular the Western Bulldogs brand - planning, organising, overseeing the implementation and providing post-event analysis – to ensure the highest levels of fan engagement and satisfaction are being achieved.  This is a unique opportunity for a passionate and proactive individual looking to start their career in the dynamic world of AFL football.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Under the guidance of the Fan Engagement & Marketing Manager, project manage the execution of key Fan Engagement events and activities, including junior participation programs and match day experience programs
  • Manage the Club’s community requests and responses to fan mail and email
  • Coordinate the Club’s experiential marketing activities including community festival presence, Western Bulldogs Road Show, Victoria University Whitten Oval tours and the Club’s mascot family ‘The Pack’
  • Undertake additional strategic Fan Engagement projects, helping to organise, implement and gain across-department buy-in where appropriate
  • Collate, organise and add to the Fan Engagement team’s catalogue of international sports marketing and customer marketing cases studies
  • Undertake competitor and market analysis to highlight new ideas and opportunities for the Western Bulldogs in Fan Engagement
  • Manage Victoria University cadet(s) to assist in the above responsibilities

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Tertiary qualifications and work experience in marketing and/or sports management preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in the delivery of junior sport development programs and/or coaching
  • Understanding of the sports entertainment industry, the AFL and club landscapes
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to engage with a broad variety of customer types including kids
  • Excellent organisational skills, time management and the ability work well under pressure on a variety of tasks
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate across all levels of the organisation, while leading and inspiring people to understand the importance of fan engagement
  • Passionate, motivated and proactive person - willingness to “get stuck in”

This role is a full time position over a period of 12 months, but is required to have flexible working hours, including weekend work.
