The Western Bulldogs are seeking Opposition Analyst / Development Coach to assist our coaching team with the development of our players.  Reporting to the Senior Coach, you are responsible for the education to the Coaching and Playing group, ensuring an in depth analysis is provided of the Opposition in relation to individuals and the overall team.  You will also work closely with the Head of Development to implement and maintain the Club’s objectives regarding Player development.  You will be responsible for providing continued development and wellbeing support to the Western Bulldogs most inexperienced Players.  

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct, manage and oversee all areas of opposition analysis by providing comprehensive information and coverage across the entire industry
  • Monitor trends and styles ensuring the message is communicated to all key stakeholders within the football department
  • Assist in the production of Player Management Plans for 1st to 3rd year players
  • Observe opposition training when required and report to the coaching panel a detailed team and individual analysis
  • Working in conjunction with coaches to formulate game plans to break down the opposition in particular team selection, match ups and training
  • Provide ideas, drills and techniques to accelerate the Western Bulldogs players learning and performance levels
  • Provide support to the Conditioning and Sport Science areas to ensure players have completed football conditioning requirements to return to play 

The ideal candidate will possess Coaching accreditation of level 2 or above and experience in coaching AFL or talent pathway programs.  You will also possess highly developed communication (written, verbal & listening) & organisational skills, have exceptional attention to detail with the ability to analyse, synthesize and report information.   You will be proficient in the use of Sportscode (or equivalent software) with IT (Mac) skills that are intermediate and high levels of administrative abilities are essential for this role. You must be able to work within a close-knit team and be able to build relationships at all levels in order to achieve the Club’s common goals.
