Senior Commercial Sales Manager

Essendon Football Club has a reputation as a leader in the Australian sports industry and we are committed to our vision of being recognised as the most respected, inclusive and successful sporting club in the country, consistently setting the benchmark both on and off the field.  We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Commercial Sales Manager to ‘Don the Sash’ and join our Commercial Operations Team based at our club headquarters in Melbourne Airport.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Commercial Sales, the Senior Commercial Sales Manager will drive new revenue and product offerings across the commercial and strategic partnerships landscape.

In the role you will be responsible for:

  • All facets of the sales function from strategic account development through to acquiring new key commercial accounts and client liaison
  • Proactive prospecting, development of sales strategies, pitching and ultimately securing new commercial partnerships
  • Sales analysis planning and reporting aimed at maximising profitability
  • Lead the development and implementation of sponsorship acquisition plans aligned to specific commercial partners business and marketing objectives 
  • Strengthening key business relationships and leveraging networks to create commercial opportunities for the club

What We’re Looking For

To be considered for the role, candidates must have the following essential skills and experience:

  • A combination of strategic insight and flair for developing new business complimented by solid experience in a strategic sales capacity, preferably within a professional sporting landscape
  • Strong commercial acumen and have the ability to construct and deliver influential marketing presentations
  • A self starter with a passion and drive to foster and build strong relationships to develop and maintain ongoing business
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with high attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Capable of working a wide array of hours with a varying time schedule to suit the seasonal priorities of the football industry
  • Permanent Residency in Australia, or appropriate visa to work permanently

Other attributes which we would value but are not essential include:

  • Sport Sponsorships / Marketing / Account Management experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Marketing, Commerce or related field
