Drafted: Geelong, 2014 NAB AFL Draft Pick No.55
2015 Trade: Joined Adelaide along with picks 9 and 28 in exchange for Patrick Dangerfield and pick No.50.
What the 2015 AFL Season Guide said: A smart footballer who reads the play well and is happy getting his hands dirty to win his own ball. Helped South Australia win consecutive NAB AFL Under-18 Championships last year and prepared for the step up to the next level in 12 senior SANFL games for Sturt. The medium midfielder boasts pace, elite endurance and is an accurate shot for goal.
Where will he play? Can play either as an inside midfielder or across half-back.
State league form: Good enough to finish third in the Geelong VFL best and fairest despite playing just 10 games. He regularly racked up more than 20 disposals and was on the edge of senior selection in the second round and then later in the season. A shoulder injury suffered mid-season cost him the chance of playing seniors but he was in the top five in average disposals, tackles, clearances and inside 50s for the VFL team.
What they say about him: Gore was impressive in his first pre-season game he played against Gold Coast in the Cats' NAB Challenge opener in Cairns. He had signed a contract extension with the Cats in July, which tied him to the club until 2017. A contested ball winner he would have graduated in the Cats' midfield this season.
Why Geelong traded him: Basically because they needed to give Adelaide a fair deal to ensure Patrick Dangerfield made a smooth transition to the Cats.
What is he good at? Gore has that rare but valuable combination of being able to kick well and win contested ball. His split between contested and uncontested is about even and he is a disciplined worker on and off the field.
What does he need to work on? Needs to develop his consistency so he regularly wins multiple possessions but that will come. He has a lot of development so fans will need patience. Gore can settle into progressing with Adelaide.
