ABOUT THE ROLE

AFL SportsReady currently has an exciting position available for someone who has recently completed Year 12 (2015) wanting to pursue a career in the Business/Retail/Administration (Sporting Club) industry. 

The successful applicant will be legally employed by AFL SportsReady, but will work on-site with the Melbourne FC and receive an accredited Business certificate (on successful completion).

Reporting to the Melbourne FC Merchandise Manager the purpose of this role will be to support the development of the Melbourne FC of as part of their Merchandise/Administration department.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Demon Shop

  • Greet and attend to customers as appropriate
  • Provide assistance with membership inquiries and processing of memberships
  • Ensure the Demon Shop is neat, clean and well presented

Reception

  • Welcome guests appropriately and ensure they are attended to.
  • Ensure guests are offered water or tea/coffee.
  • Ensure all calls are answered appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the reception area is kept clean and tidy

 General administration

  • Provide general administrative support to all teams as required
  • Assist with taking and delivering messages
  • Co-ordinate and administer daily incoming and outgoing mail, including the booking of couriers as required
  • Assist with meeting bookings, catering requirements, room set up and other tasks as required
  • Ensure the kitchen, meeting rooms and other staff facilities are clean, tidy and fully stocked, ordering tea/coffee as required
  • Ensure the stationery cupboard is fully stocked, ordering stationery as required
  • Assist in preparing/typing up appropriate letters, emails, reports and other correspondence as required
  • Ensure timely and appropriate filing within the administration area

Match day 

  • Attendance at match day and other events as required
  • Support all teams as required
  • Process and balance cash, cheque and credit card payment receipting for memberships and/or retail
  • Provide excellent customer service to all members and supporters, providing appropriate information and aiming to exceed their expectations at every opportunity

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

  • Must have right to work in Australia
  • Strong communication skills
  • Great organisational skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Sound knowledge of the AFL environment.
  • Strong problem solving and issue resolution skills

Preferred

  • Valid Health Care Card
