AFL 2015 Training - West Coast Eagles 170715

Elliot Yeo enjoyed a breakout season in 2015

EXCITING midfielder Elliot Yeo was held out of West Coast's main session on Wednesday as the Eagles continued to work on their transition from defence to attack.

Yeo did not participate with the main group during the 90-minute open session at Domain Stadium, only doing some running away from the squad.

Injured recruit Jack Redden has begun running again following a second bout of surgery on his troubled adductor but he remains at least a month away from returning to the main group.

Veteran Sam Butler, youngster Dom Sheed and rookie Simon Tunbridge were also managed during the session, as was draftee Kurt Mutimer who spent the last portion of the session icing the hamstring he injured prior to Christmas.

The rest of the Eagles' squad looked very sharp on Wednesday, working on some end-to-end ball movement at high intensity.

The players also did some competitive one-on-one work for a short period with defender Eric Mackenzie impressing.

He grappled with power forward Josh Kennedy on a couple of occasions and showed no signs of having lost any of his strength or competitiveness following 12 months out due to a knee reconstruction.

Fellow key defender Mitch Brown also looked in good shape and even did some work briefly as a lead-up forward in one of the ball movement drills.

Coach Adam Simpson has preached the importance of his players having the flexibility to play in multiple positions.

The Eagles are also really pleased with their 2015 draft crop with Luke Partington, Tom Cole, Matthew Allen and Jordan Snadden slotting seamlessly into pre-season training.
