SUPERSTAR Geelong recruit Patrick Dangerfield will be unveiled in his new colours in Friday night's NAB Challenge clash against Collingwood at Simonds Stadium.

The former Adelaide midfielder, who crossed to the Cats during last year's trade period, was named alongside fellow recruit Lachie Henderson and key forward Tom Hawkins.

The Cats, whose squad will be trimmed to 26 on the night, have named five potential first-gamers, with Zac Smith, Sam Menegola and Tom Ruggles also named.

Captain Joel Selwood, who has battled plantar fasciitis this summer, will not play in his club's opening pre-season hit-out, nor with his brother Scott, who was recruited from West Coast as a free agent.

The Magpies will unveil one of their headline recruits in James Aish, but fellow midfielder Adam Treloar, who underwent groin surgery before joining the club from Greater Western Sydney, will not play.

Young forward Darcy Moore has been named in a relatively young 29-man squad, with rookies Josh Smith and Tim Golds and draftee Tom Phillips selected.

Dane Swan and Steele Sidebottom are set to add experience to the midfield.

Melbourne recruit Jeremy Howe is recovering from hand surgery and has been ruled out of the NAB Challenge series by the Magpies.
