ACCOUNTANT

The Melbourne Football Club is the founding club of the AFL. The Club is part of the fabric of the city of Melbourne and is based at Australia’s most iconic sports stadium, the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The Club has over 35,000 members and attracts over 400,000 attendees to its games each year. 

The Club has strong leadership and is an emerging team in the competition, looking to build a strong and sustainable future.

Reporting to the Senior Accountant we are seeking an energetic and driven accountant to assist the Finance team and other areas of the business to help achieve their respective targets.

Responsibilities will include:
General ledger maintenance and month end reconciliations including maintaining the Fixed Asset Register

  • Preparing payroll files and being the point of contact for payroll queries
  • Preparation and lodgement of legal and statutory obligations, including BAS, Payroll Tax, WorkCover & Superannuation
  • Responsible for the weekly integration of the sales system (Aptify) into the general ledger (Great Plains)
  • Preparation of the weekly Debtor report and analysis/follow up with the corporate sales team
  • Assist with the annual year-end audit process

The successful applicant will possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, business or related field
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and relevant tax legislation
  • Intermediate MS Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Experience using accounting software

Successful candidates will require a current Working With Children Check. There is also a requirement to assist on match days and other events as required by the Club, which will include out of office hours and weekends.
