WEST Coast midfielders Luke Shuey and Liam Duggan will face fitness tests on their respective ankle problems later this week in order to be available for Saturday's Western Derby.

Both men suffered ankle injuries during the Eagles' heavy loss to Hawthorn last Sunday.

Shuey was not sighted on the training track on Tuesday at Domain Stadium while Duggan only walked laps as the rest of the players went through a light recovery session.

Eagles football manager Craig Vozzo  said both men faced tests later in the week.

"Luke rolled his ankle in the pre-game warm-up unfortunately," Vozzo told the club's website.

"He played out the game. He's a little bit sore but we expect him to train later in the week. We'll test him out in training and we're expecting him to play.

"Liam is similar. He rolled his ankle but in the game. He's pulled up quite well. Again he needs to get through training to be available to play."

Defender Brad Sheppard also walked laps with Duggan on Tuesday morning with a compression bandage on his left calf. But he should be fit for the Derby despite the Eagles only having a six-day break.

Chris Masten looks set to return following 28 disposals in the WAFL last Friday night in his first game back since injuring his ankle in early February.

Mark Hutchings is unlikely to be recalled after straining his hamstring in the WAFL. He has had an interrupted start to the year with some minor soft tissue problems and missed part of the NAB Challenge due to a calf complaint.

Sharrod Wellingham took part in the light session on Tuesday but he is only just ready to return to full training after a number of weeks out with a knee problem. Vozzo said he was still a month away from being available to play.
