GREATER Western Sydney players hope to catch up with troubled forward Cam McCarthy this weekend during the Giants' trip to Perth to take on Fremantle at Domain Stadium on Saturday night.

McCarthy has been living in Perth since January after being granted indefinite leave from the club to deal with personal issues.

The 21-year-old is still contracted with the Giants but has been allowed to train with his WAFL club South Fremantle.

Giants midfielder Stephen Coniglio said the players hoped to see McCarthy during their time in Perth.

"I'll think we'll definitely be contacting Cammy to catch up," Coniglio said on Friday.

"It's great news that he's been back at South Fremantle training again.

"From a players point of view you just hope that his welfare and health and happiness is at the forefront. The boys will definitely be in contact with him.

"He'll probably catch up with a few of the boys later."

Coniglio said it was vital for the group to back up their outstanding win over Hawthorn last week with another strong performance against the struggling Dockers.

"It's imperative for the group collective going forward," Coniglio said.

"After such a good win last week it's important to put a stamp down and come out tomorrow night and put in a good performance."

The Giants have never won at Domain Stadium in six previous attempts.
