COLLINGWOOD coach Nathan Buckley has refused to automatically grant Travis Cloke a spot to replace injured forwards Alex Fasolo and Darcy Moore, labelling his likely inclusion "an assumption".

Cloke's chances of returning to the senior squad were given a boost following injuries to four key Magpies – including goalkickers Fasolo (scapula) and Moore (collarbone) – in Sunday's 21-point loss to the Western Bulldogs.

However, Buckley said Cloke would not be guaranteed a senior recall to cover the deficiency in attack for Sunday's clash against Port Adelaide.

"The reality is that is an assumption. Match committee will take place on Thursday and it's folly to discuss anything before we get to that," Buckley told Fox Footy on Monday night.

"If he's part of the best, hardest, fittest 22 (and) ready to come up against the side this week, he'll be in the side.

"Our expectation will be that the players we select this week to replace those (injured) players will need to bring the same energy and vigour that their teammates have brought over the last three weeks."

Cloke has not featured for the Magpies since being omitted for the Anzac Day blockbuster against Essendon in round five.

The Magpies' VFL team had a bye at the weekend, meaning the 196cm power forward was unable to further press his claims for a senior recall.

Cloke booted a match-high four goals against Williamstown the week prior in his strongest showing in four attempts since being omitted.

Since Cloke's demotion, Buckley has stated that the key forward would need to rediscover his "thirst for the contest" before re-entering selection calculations.

Collingwood had no available players on the interchange bench for the last 13 minutes against the Bulldogs due to the four injuries.

Defender Alan Toovey was the first casualty in the second quarter after failing a concussion test, while midfielder Taylor Adams hopped off the ground early in the third quarter with a left hamstring injury.

Fasolo did not feature in the final term due to a fractured scapula in his left shoulder, and the Magpies could not make any further rotations when Moore succumbed to a broken collarbone soon after.

The Magpies ended the game having made 57 of a possible 90 interchange rotations compared to the Bulldogs' 86.
