ST KILDA will look at any recruitment possibilities amid speculation linking the club to Brisbane Lions captain Tom Rockliff, coach Alan Richardson says.

Contract talks between the Lions and Rockliff have stalled, with the 26-year-old reportedly refusing to budge on a five-year, $800,000 per season demand.

Richardson refused to comment specifically on Rockliff, but says it's no secret the Saints will be assessing any opportunities that suit the club.

"We won't talk about individuals, but what we will say is, and we've been pretty open, that we're looking to add to our list," Richardson said on Friday.

"We know we've got a fair bit of work to do on our list.

"If there's someone there from a trading perspective or a free agency perspective that fits out footy club then we look at everyone."

Statistically Rockliff has had a strong season for the struggling Lions, averaging 37.5 disposals per game in the past month including a massive 48 touches against Carlton in round 11.

Rockliff told News Corp earlier this week he remained committed to the Lions despite speculation over his future.

"I've been through the hard times and I want to see this through," he said.

"I don't think there's any uncertainty around that."

The Saints were interested in acquiring Crows gun Rory Sloane last year, but missed out on the 26-year-old's signature.

Richardson, on that occasion, wasn't afraid of signaling the club's intentions to go after the in-form Adelaide midfielder however this time he's staying tightlipped.

If the Lions skipper was to leave the struggling club then he'll join Ryan Griffen (GWS) and Chris Judd (Carlton) as recent examples of captains moving on to a new home.

The Saints are looking to continue their impressive form when they come up against Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium on Saturday.
